ACL Bridge Program

Return to sport training at our well
equipped and newly renovated facility.

  • Recovery from ACL reconstruction surgery is lengthy and challenging.
  • The incidence of ACL injuries per year in the United States is as high as 200,000 individuals.
  • Only ~65% of individuals return to their pre-injury level of sports.
  • Approximately 1 in 4 people will go on to suffer a second ACL tear.
  • Return to sport bridge programs are shown to be effective in decreasing rates of
    re-injury!

What is the Return to Sport Bridge Program?
NOMS Return to Sport Bridge program is designed to prepare individuals to return to sport following ACL reconstruction surgery. Once formal Physical Therapy has been completed, this program provides a safe, effective strength and conditioning program to achieve higher level activities. The program is individualized and focuses on strength, power, running, plyometrics, agility, neuromuscular control, and endurance. It is research based and designed in collaboration by Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapists, Orthopaedic Surgeons and Strength and Conditioning Coaches.

Who is it designed for?
The NOMS bridge program is appropriate for individuals who have completed formal PT following ACL reconstruction surgery and have been cleared by their surgeon for higher level activities. Individuals can be of any age with the goal of returning safely to an active lifestyle, or a specific sport.

How is the program designed?
The program will be led by Athletic Trainers and Physical Therapists within NOMS that have extensive education in rehabilitation, as well as strength & conditioning. At the start of the program, participants will be given a thorough evaluation to identify deficits in movement patterns. The results, taken into account with individual goals, will lead to the specific program design.
