Maintenance Generalist - Full Time

Parma, OH

Responsible for the overall and general maintenance of the facility and grounds.

 

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Complies with all HIPAA and OSHA regulations and policies.
  • Responsible for routine maintenance and repair on HVAC, electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Dismantles equipment with hand tools. Replaces defective mechanical parts such as gears, bearings and electrical parts such as armatures and transformers.
  • Coordinates electrical and other inspections with utility companies, insurance companies and other agencies. Follows all federal, state and local regulations and codes.
  • Examines, tests, isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors and other equipment. Replaces defective items to ensure safe operations.
  • Works with contractors on new construction/remodeling projects. Reads blueprints and diagrams, and develops specifications. Coordinates project efforts.
  • Maintains records, reports, and files as required.
  • Purchases equipment, supplies and materials such as nails, screws, and so forth to be used in general maintenance tasks.
  • Mounts cabinets, build shelving, paint and stain, repair floors, and minor plumbing repair as needed. Makes minor repairs to furniture.
  • Alerts CEO of any unsafe conditions and provides recommendations related to equipment acquisitions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of building maintenance concepts, plumbing and electrical wiring.
  • Knowledge of public building and safety codes.
  • Knowledge of facilities management practices.
  • Knowledge of standard safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • Ability to recognize problems and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to prepare plans and specifications
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and vendors.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • General computer skills to include Microsoft office programs, energy management building systems and intelimeter management systems.
  • Skill in using various hand tools.
  • Skill in manual and finger dexterity
  • Skill in making spatial measurements
  • Skill in reading blueprints and diagrams

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED. Trade or vocational diploma with courses in blueprint reading, electricity, and HVAC.
  • 4 or more years of building engineering experience required

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • On-site work area environment inside and outside. Frequent exposure to mechanical and electrical hazards. Occasional evening or weekend work. Works in conditions of heat, cold, wetness, dust, rain, snow.

Physical/Mental Demands:

  • Prolonged walking or standing, repeated stooping, squatting, stretching, climbing of ladders. Requires eye-hand coordination in utilizing equipment and tools. Frequent lifting and carrying materials up to 50 pounds.
